Welcome to Studio 385: the Mount Baker School of Violin.

Studio 385 began as 38-1/2 Street Violin Studio in Austin, Texas. It was founded by Holly Blackwelder Carpenter to foster, teach, inspire and support violinists of all ages and abilities.   

In Spring of 2006, Mrs. Blackwelder Carpenter reached the decision to settle in the Pacific Northwest.  Her studio is now located on 38th Street in the Mount Baker neighborhood of Seattle.  

The name Studio 385 gives tribute both to the studio’s Austin roots on 38 1/2 Street and its new—and permanent—location on 38th Street in Seattle.

Mrs. Blackwelder Carpenter received her BA in Music in 2000 from Walla Walla College and she also holds certifications in the Suzuki Violin Method, books 1A, 1B, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 as individual units, in English. She also holds a certification for Books 1-3 as a review unit, in Spanish.
